How to use it

  1. Select the appropriate liquid for the expected SG range of the gem species
  2. Drop the clean, dry stone into the liquid in a sealed glass vial
  3. Observe whether the stone sinks (SG higher than liquid), floats (SG lower), or remains suspended (SG equal)
  4. Narrow down by testing in liquids of different known SG if needed
  5. Rinse the stone thoroughly with acetone or alcohol after testing to remove residue
